SPRINGFIELD – After voting to pass a budget that preserves funding to local governments, State Senator Suzy Glowiak Hilton (D-Western Springs) released the following statement:
“Our local governments will continue to receive level funding, even during these difficult times. Local government distributive funds keep our communities alive and it is more important than ever that we protect these services.
“This budget also keeps our education system stable. Our children already face unprecedented challenges due to the pandemic. Reducing school budgets now was not an option and I'm glad we worked together to keep this funding level.”
SPRINGFIELD – With businesses planning to reopen as soon as May 29, State Senator Suzy Glowiak Hilton (D-Western Springs) announced that childcare facilities will be able to help when parents return to work.
“Many parents have reached out expressing how overwhelmed they are as they try to balance work from home, e-learning and other new roles that they have taken on,” Glowiak Hilton said. “Childcare centers will soon reopen and help lift a weight off their shoulders.”
SPRINGFIELD – After Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan was modified to allow bars and restaurants to open outdoor seating, State Senator Suzy Glowiak Hilton (D-Western Springs) released the following statement:
“Allowing for outdoor seating with social distancing requirements will provide much-needed relief to many of the small businesses in our area. Small business owners, employees and their families will be able to work in a healthy environment and feel at ease knowing that their livelihoods are back in their own hands.
“These changes were made in part by the advocacy of our small business community and municipalities. I am grateful to everyone who was willing to open a civil line of dialogue with our governor.”
WESTERN SPRINGS – With small businesses and independent contractors facing economic hardship due to COVID-19 closures, State Senator Suzy Glowiak Hilton (D-Western Springs) announced that DuPage County will offer economic assistance with the Small Business Relief Grant program.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and we need to do all we can to get them through this crisis,” Glowiak Hilton said. “This grant program will provide much-needed relief to the hard-working people that bring our local economy to life.”
